Hi, developer of Solar here.
Great review. Everything you said is what I believe the short comings in the game are. Very original concept, but not really much content.
What I may be doing is if the game continues to be successful I'll be pitching it as an XBLA title, and then I'll be able to flesh it out into a very deep universe and make an amazing and original gameplay experience.
I wish this video was on Inside Xbox. People could download and try (and buy) community games as soon as they hear about them...
If you're interested in a more traditional Scorched Earth style game (turn based with high customization) I'm currently finishing off my own take-off on the genre. Finally started blogging about it now that it's nearing completion.
Hey man check out my game called the exterminator, its fun and addicting and theres a patch coming very soon. After the patch is released where having another contest for 8000 points...
